WCR

WCR is short for World Classic Rockers and was formed a few years ago by several  legendary musicians who have played with some of the top bands of the last 30 years. Some of the people that have performed with the band at various times include singer, Bobby Kimball of Toto and drummers Denny Seiwell of Wings, Carmine Appice of Vanilla Fudge and Bruce Gary of The Knack.

I was asked to join the band by Fergie Frederiksen after having played on his solo CD "Equilibrium". The shows with WCR were like a greatest hits of songs from most of the various bands that the members had been associated with over the years. I played with the band from Spring of 1999 until Summer of 2003, touring the world playing a variety of corporate engagements along with several festival/fair dates and some recordings.

The various members of the band when I was involved included:

Randy Meisner who was a founding member of The Eagles and who has also played with Poco and Rick Nelson. In 1998, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work with The Eagles, who's hits included such classics as "Take It To The Limit", "Already Gone", "Hotel California", "Take It Easy" and many others.

Denny Laine who was the original lead singer with The Moody Blues and later went on to be a founding member of Wings along with Paul and Linda McCartney. He had a huge hit with The Moody Blues called "Go Now" and had several top hits with Wings such as "Band On The Run", "Jett", "Silly Love Songs" and the Academy Award Nominated "Live And Let Die".

Spencer Davis, who, along with Steve Winwood, founded The Spencer Davis group and gave the world such hits as "Gimme Some Lovin'", "I'm A Man" and "Keep On Runnin'".

Michael Monarch, who was the original lead guitarist in Steppenwolf. They scored huge hits with their classic songs "Born To Be Wild" and "Magic Carpet Ride".

Nick St. Nicholas, who worked with Neil Young and Rick James before forming a group called Sparrow that later went on to become Steppenwolf.

Fergie Frederiksen, who sang in the legendary group Toto, who gained fame with such songs as "Rosanna". "Hold The Line", "Africa" and "Georgy Porgy". Fergie has also worked with the band Le Roux and had several solo albums released.

Randall Hall, who played with Lynyrd Skynyrd, the band known for such hits as "Sweet Home Alabama", "Freebird", "Gimme Three Steps" and many other classic Southern Rock songs.

The band also included three other musicians/singers; Kurt Griffey on guitar, Steve Stewart on keyboards and Rosilee on vocals.

In 2003, Kurt Griffey and I left the band to concentrate on our work with the Gregg Rolie Band.
